Police can release the identity of the woman who was found in a car in the Auckland suburb of New Lynn early on Sunday morning.
She was 54 year old Xiukin Feng of Mt Wellington who was known to some family and friends as Nancy. She had lived in New Zealand for sometime and was originally from China. A post mortem examination found she had suffered a head injury.
For the past two days Police have been interviewing family and friends of Nancy to establish a picture of her life. Nancy was involved in the management of a massage parlour in New Lynn.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Sutton says, "On any homicide inquiry a person's career is part of the investigation and Nancy's involvement in the industry is being considered. In the final analysis a person's death is being investigated, what is relevant is the unlawful taking of a life, what someone does for a career is irrelevant."
There are about 25 staff on the inquiry team, working for the community and the family of Nancy to find who was responsible for her death," says Detective Senior Sgt Sutton.
"We are appealing for anyone who worked with Nancy or knew her to come forward with information that could help Police identify who was responsible for her death", says Detective Senior Sgt Sutton.
Police are looking for a number of items of property belonging to Nancy. This includes her cell phone, handbag and keys. As part of the search for any items that may be of relevance, rubbish has been taken from bins near the car park and is being searched.
Police are still asking for any sightings of a grey/gold Mitsubishi Eterna vehicle, registration AFS 413. The vehicle was believed to be in the Warehouse car park off Rata Street in New Lynn for about 24 hours.
Anyone who has seen the vehicle should contact Henderson Police on 839 0664.
