Wellington Police needs urgent public help to find Cameron Huia Shaw who is sought for serious violence and aggravated burglary offences in the city.
Shaw, a 35-year-old male Maori, is described as 170cm tall, solidly built with a 'number one' haircut and dark goatee. No photo is available. Shaw is believed to be driving a white Nissan Bluebird saloon, registration YU3226.
Detective Inspector Gary Knowles, head of Wellington CIB, says Shaw has access to weapons, including firearms, and is believed to be armed and dangerous.
"He should not be approached and if people see him they should contact Wellington CIB or their nearest police station," Detective Inspector Knowles says.
Wellington CIB can be contacted on 0800 TIPOFF.
"If people see the vehicle, particularly if it is mobile, then call 111."
It's possible he is somewhere in the lower North Island.
Detective Inspector Knowles says police and Shaw's family are becoming increasingly concerned about Shaw's escalating violence.
"He's assaulted his former partner in recent weeks and then on Sunday night broke into a house and seriously assaulted his former partner's new boyfriend. The injuries were serious and although non life threatening did require medical attention."
Detective Inspector Knowles says police are liaising closely with Shaw's family and their collective appeal is for Shaw to give himself up.
