The disappearance of a former Auckland couple – Heather and Robin De Villiers – is causing concern among their immediate families and Police.
The couple, both South African but with permanent New Zealand residency, have not been seen by any members of their families since October 2003, when Heather was seen by her parents-in-law in Auckland.
The last reported sighting of her was sometime between October 24 and 31, 2003, at The Lodge in the City Backpackers, Taranaki St, Wellington.
Robin De Villiers’ parents notified North Shore Police in January of this year that the couple had not been in contact with them for some months.
Some inquiries discovered Heather’s bank account had been used in Wellington in early February of this year. There are no records of the bank account being accessed since then.
Robin De Villiers was last seen by his parents in Auckland on or around October 11, 2003. They have not had any contact with him since and are concerned for his safety.
The couple’s last known address was in Tonks Ave, Newmarket, where they lived until October 2003. Heather – who also uses the surnames Rothery and Booysen – is a 45 year-old mixed race South African who told her friends and associates she was a human resources consultant and recruiter.
Robin De Villiers is a 36 year-old mixed race South African who’s last known employment was at a car yard in Auckland. They were married in May 2003.
Heather’s former husband, Kevin Rothery, advised Newmarket Police late last month that his concerns about his former wife had grown since she missed her 14 year-old daughter’s birthday in July.
Police are encouraging the De Villiers to contact their families, Police or friends. Friends or associates who might have information about where one or both of them is, are urged to contact Constable Ian Austin at the Newmarket Combined Investigation Unit on 09 529 5655.
