A 39-year-old man appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday afternoon charged with sexual violation by rape after an alleged incident at an Ellerslie hotel on January 9.
The accused, Takanini driver Peter Andrew Hutson, allegedly lured his 18 year-old victim to the hotel after representing himself to her via telephone as a talent spotter for a modelling agency.
Hutson was remanded on bail for two weeks and will reappear on January 27.
Officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Sergeant Peter Florence from Mt Wellington CIB, said anyone who had received unsolicited ‘phone calls of such nature and who was concerned, could contact Constable Nicky McGoverne on the inquiry team at Mt Wellington Police Station, 09 526 7355.
