A twelve-year-old girl was abducted in the West Auckland suburb of Ranui this morning on her way to school on Metcalf Road.
At about 8:15, two men in a car approached the girl and told her to get in because it was raining. The girl began to run away across the road but was followed by the vehicle onto Larnach Road. One of the occupants got out, grabbed her and put her in the back seat .
She managed to escape at a stop sign and ran to her school.
The girl describes the two occupants of the car as teenage Polynesian men.
One had short spiked hair with scars on his face. The other was wearing a blue cap with a green underside and a navy blue hoodie. He had a black goatee and scratches on his face.
They were driving an older model white four-door sedan, with a grey interior.
Police are looking for witnesses in an effort to identify the car and its occupants.
Detective Constable Brendon Pearson says the abduction happened at a busy time of the morning in peak hour traffic, so somebody must have seen something. He is asking people in the area of Larnach and Metcalf roads at the time who may have seen something to contact the Henderson CIB.
Police say parents should also be vigilant and remind their children about the general dangers of accepting rides from strangers.
