The Ardern file was referred by the Wellington Prosecution Service to the National Manager of the Prosecution Service Centre Superintendent Graham Thomas to review the file.
Having considered the matter his decision was that on balance a prima facie case had been established and that the prosecution, which had already begun, should proceed. The court should be the final arbiter.
As the matter is now before the court Police are unable to make any further comment.
