Police welcome new Victim Support service
Police welcome new Victim Support service
Victim Support today launched a new Contact Service, hosted within Police National Headquarters in Wellington.
Police refer hundreds of victims to Victim Support every year. The Contact Service will handle all these calls and respond to urgent call outs within 45 minutes.
The Contact Service was launched by Minister of Police Judith Collins, Victim Support Chief Executive Tony Paine and Police Commissioner Howard Broad.
The Commissioner acknowledged the strong partnership between Police and Victim Support. He said it was part of a slow but sure development in Police to make victims central to the criminal justice process.
He also acknowledged the many police employees who had contributed to the grass roots development of Victim Support in a voluntary and professional capacity.
