Keeping to the left saves lives
Keeping to the left saves lives
Canterbury Highway Patrol will continue to strictly enforce the keep to the left rule on motorists heading to and from the Mt Hutt ski field this season.
30 motorists each received $150 infringement notices in a recent campaign for crossing the centre line on State Highway 77 near the Rakia George.
Sergeant Steve Burgerhout said that speed was not a factor for most of the drivers but that many had simply developed bad driving habits over time.
"Drivers need to ensure they drive entirely within their lane, especially on blind bends and crossing the centre line and hoping for the best, is not safe driving."
"Heavy snow falls in the region has drawn large numbers of skiers to the Mountain and we ask them to drive to stay alive."
"It's the same old message "You can't have a head on Collision if you stay in your lane."
