Five seconds to save your life
More than 30 lives a year could be saved if people took five seconds to do up their safety belts. Wearing a safety belt reduces your chance of death or serious injury in a crash by 40 percent. New Zealand's safety belt wearing rate is currently 94 percent for adults in the front seat, and 86 percent in the rear seat. Media release: Driver in fatal Hamilton crash not wearing seatbelt
