Divine guidance for new constables
Thirty-eight new constables were welcomed to New Zealand Police by Venerable Abbess Manchin and Commissioner of Police Howard Broad.
They graduated from the Royal New Zealand Police College in Wing 261 on Thursday.
As the wing's patron, the Abbess became a mentor for the recruits, visiting them three times during at the college. She brought a unique dimension to their training, inspiring them to develop their inner-selves in order to deal with daily challenges.
The wing included people with language skills including Korean, Chinese, Samoan, Indian and Maori. Of the 38 new constables 29 are men and 9 are women. Their ages range from 18 to 38.
Thirty-seven members of Wing 261 have been posted to stations in the Counties Manukau District. The remaining member has been posted to the Northland District.
