Crime prevention good for business
Business owners are urged to consider their cash management and security following a spate of weekend burglaries in Hamilton.
In one incident, thieves appear to have used tools to remove a cabinet safe and allegedly made off with a sizeable amount of cash.
Opportunity for this type of theft can be reduced through good cash handling procedures:
- Count cash out of sight
- Don't discuss cash takings in public
- Keep your safe in a secure area which cannot be seen or accessed by public
- Clear tills of surplus cash regularly and bank the money or put in a secure safe
- Before you move bulk cash into or out of tills, make sure your premises are locked and secure and only staff are present.
