Catwalk calls for Police dog Link
Wellington Police dog Link has another accolade to wag his tail about. Proud Link has become the model for the New Zealand Police dog soft toy - a popular gift sold at the Munro Canteen and Sports shop at the Royal New Zealand Police College in Porirua.
Without any advertising, the canteen has already sold half of the second shipment of the furry replicas, popular for not only police staff, but friends and family as well.
Purchases from the not-for-profit shop go towards extra facilities for recruits while training at the college. Recent funds have gone towards a revamped barbeque area on site.
It is not only Link’s striking features and good looks that have made him a Police model, but also his ability at obedience, tracking and agility while on duty.
Under the guidance of Constable Stu Rota, Link gained third place at this year's National Police Dog Championships and won the William Rose Bowl for criminal work disciplines in the same competition.
Link can be seen in action this week on TV One’s Dog Squad (Monday 12th August at 7.30pm).
The Link miniatures join the Police Teddy and Police Kiwi in the shop, each retailing for $25. They can also be ordered through munrosports@xtra.co.nz.
