Firearms Official Information Act proactive public releases (Nov 2021)
In keeping with the Open Government Partnership National Action Plan 2016-2018, and as Administrator of the Arms Act 1983, Police is releasing its responses to some recent Official Information Act requests, where it is considered they contain data and information that has wider public interest.

On 8 October 2021 the Arms (Extension of Licences and Endorsements) Amendment Regulations 2021 came into force. These regulations extend the duration of certain firearms and dealers’ licences to address licence renewals that could not be (or will unable to be) completed before the original licence expires because of restrictions due to COVID-19 Alert Levels. The document comprises advice provided to Cabinet on the need for, and development of, the Regulations. |
