These are the key documents carrying out the Government’s requirement to make savings by reducing employee roles which was outlined in the Budget 24 package.

  • Consultation document (PDF, 13.3MB)
    Released to staff on 20 August 2024. Sets out proposed changes to realign Police’s corporate workforce, as well as the process for the consultation and how final decisions would be implemented
  • Decision document (PDF, 7.8MB)
    Released to staff on 9 October 2024. Communicates the final decision on the realignment of Police’s corporate workforce, including some changes to the original proposal following detailed feedback to the Consultation document.

Certain information in the documents has been withheld under one or more of the following sections of the Act:

  • Information is withheld under section 9(2)(a) to protect the privacy of natural persons
  • Information is withheld under section 9(2)(f)(iv) to maintain the constitutional conventions for the time being which protect the confidentiality of advice tendered by Ministers of the Crown and officials
  • Information is withheld under section 9(2)(g)(i) to maintain the effective conduct of public affairs through the free and frank expression of opinions by or between or to Ministers of the Crown or members of an organisation or officers and employees of any public service agency or organisation in the course of their duty.

In February 2024, Police established a Financial Sustainability Programme with the objective of delivering savings in order to operate within baseline funding for 2024/25 and beyond.
