The scene examination on Ilam Road has been completed today.
A search warrant is being carried out at an address on Kirkwood Avenue this afternoon, however Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
The 52-year-old man has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Christchurch High Court on Friday 5 October.
The victims and accused have been granted name suppression.
“Our thoughts are with the victims’ families and witnesses to the event at this time and we are supporting them alongside Victim Support,” Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam says.
“I encourage anyone who is struggling with a relationship breakdown to seek help from organisations such as Women’s Refuge, Shine National Helpline, It’s Not Ok and men’s support groups to prevent tragic circumstances such as these.”
