Inquiries continue into Wainuiomata death

1 min read

Lower Hutt Police are speaking with family members and friends as part of their investigation into the unexplained death of a 22-year-old Wainuiomata woman.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Levy, Lower Hutt CIB, said good progress is being made but it will be some days yet before police have a clearer understanding of the circumstances of the death.

Police were called by family members to the Wellington Road house early on Friday night and found the deceased in a bed.

"We're sifting through the result of weekend inquiries. We still have a lot of people to speak with as the woman has a large extended family and group of friends who had been in contact with her in recent days," Detective Senior Sergeant Levy said.

He said the scene examination at the house and a canvas of neighbours in the Wellington Road area is also expected to take another few days.

Police hope to release the woman's name tomorrow.
