International Missing Persons
If a family member or next of kin is missing overseas and you hold genuine fears for their safety, the local police station is the first point of contact.
Passport details, recent photographs, copies of recent correspondence and an itinerary will all help in the search.
Local police will ask the New Zealand Interpol Bureau to contact the country in which the person is missing. Interpol in that country will then make enquiries.
Local police will keep family informed as the search progresses.
Police Liaison Officers
Three senior CIB staff are based within the New Zealand overseas missions at Bangkok, Sydney and Canberra. They act as a contact point between the Australian, South East Asian and New Zealand police agencies on drug and other criminal matters.
