Lyn Provost is superbly equipped for the role of Controller and Auditor-General after serving in her current statutory role as Deputy Commissioner NZ Police for 8 years, the Commissioner of Police, Howard Broad, said today.
Mrs Provost has been recommended by the Officers of Parliament Committee for the role.
Mr Broad said Mrs Provost had a long list of achievements over her time as Deputy Commissioner Resource Management. These included:
•Restoring the confidence of central agencies in Police's ability to manage extensive ICT systems and system development post INCIS.
•The seamless migration from the old Wanganui Law Enforcement System to the National Intelligence Application.
•The Digital Radio Project to replace Police's aging analogue radio system.
•A significant part in the initial Police response to the Commission of Inquiry into Police Conduct - mobilising a team to efficiently stock-take and analyse many years worth of historical files and providing the Commission with coherent and timely responses to its inquiries.
•Leading a radical overhaul of the 50 year old Police Act and sponsoring the introduction of a Code of Conduct for all staff.
•Introduction of a leadership development framework to grow a new generation of police leaders.
