An exciting opportunity exists in the Police Prosecution Service Team for a position as Prosecution Support Officer based in Manukau.
You will be required to provide administrative and clerical support to the Papakura Prosecution office.
We want to hear from you if you have demonstrated experience in the following areas:
- Sound skills and experience in the administration of office systems
- The ability to multi-task, prioritise, manage and meet deadlines
- Experience in the use of computer systems, including data entry
- Excellent communication skills
- A team player with an ability to interact with a wide variety of people and situations
You will need to have a pro-active approach, with an adaptable nature, and be confident in your own abilities.

A multi skilled position providing administrative and clerical support to a prosecution office.
|
|
1. Administration Support
|
- Provides, clerical, receptionist assistance, data entry and assists with records maintenance, including Doc-loc of files, within a prosecutions office.
- Carries out the duties of requisitioner for the SAP
- Assists in general office administration, receiving telephone calls, communicating information verbally to colleagues and staff, screening visitors, sending and receiving faxes, photocopying and dispatching documents.
- Accurately records and dispatches files, locates and attaches associated files or other pertinent information to prosecution files when necessary.
- Receives new files, minor offence files to action, and summons from district staff, collates and checks file information for accuracy, updates file status maintaining them in chronological order of court hearing date.
- Receives files at the completing of court, sorts, updates file status and forwards files as required.
- Accurately updates status of all current prosecution files.
- Actions all requests from members of Police, legal practitioners and members of the public for information off files and after determining what can be released, dispatches the information accordingly.
- Records, updates and retrieves information including reports and correspondence as required.
- After determining the action to be taken, prepares actions and distributes requests for case adjournments from Registrars, defendants and legal practitioners.

- Responds to all client inquires and requests for service in a professional customer-friendly and timely manner.
- Relationship ManagementMaintains liaison and communication with Prosecution office sworn and non-sworn staff, Diversion office, Inquest office, Legal Advisers, sworn and non-sworn staff within the local district and nationally.
- Maintains liaison and communication with members of the public, Crown Solicitors Office, District, High and Youth Courts, Social Welfare, legal practitioners, Prisons and Community Corrections.
- Identifies problems within the office administration including symptoms, causes and effects, uses discretion to address problems and provides appropriate feedback to the officer in charge of the office.
