Waikato District Commander
Superintendent Allan Boreham

Kia ora koutou katoa, greetings and welcome, I'm Superintendent Allan Boreham, the District Commander for the Waikato Police District.

The Waikato Police District has over 690 staff and 37 Police stations. It covers an area of more than 15,000 square kilometres - spreading to Te Kauwhata in the north, Benneydale in the south, Raglan to the west and includes the Coromandel Peninsula to the east. The Waikato has a population of about 315,000 people.

We have a map of the Waikato District which shows your nearest police station and the district phonebook provides phone, fax and address details.

Organisationally our District is split into three areas - Hamilton City, Waikato Western (headquarters based at Te Awamutu) and Waikato Eastern (headquarters based at Thames).

Waikato is home to King Tuheitia and as such is seen as a focal point for Maori responsiveness. We have a significant partnership with Maori and continue to work collaboratively to reduce victimisation and offending by Maori.

The District's mission statement - "Taking a lead in making Waikato a safer and more enjoyable place to live" - is achieved by pro-active initiatives and high-visibility policing, with a strong emphasis on partnerships with communities and iwi. The district is committed to providing the very best level of service to its communities.

I am proud of my team of dedicated, high performing staff. We continually seek to determine best practice methods of operating and actively engage our communities and external stakeholders as we continue to work towards Police strategic goals; community reassurance, policing with confidence and organisational development.
